7 MOST POPULAR FITNESS MYTHS (SOLVED)

Hello and welcome! Today I am going to unfold some of the most popular fitness myths so that you can stay away from 'misconceptions' and 'gimmicks'.

MYTH-1: WEIGHT LIFTING MAKES WOMEN BULKY

Due to the fact that women do not and cannot, naturally produce as much testosterone as males do, it is impossible for a woman to turn into ‘The Hulk’ from lifting some weights. When it comes to increasing muscle size, testosterone is the key. Men have 10 to 20 times more testosterone than women, which is why men can bulk up so noticeably.

Weight training can’t make women bulky as men. It helps them look sexier and toned. So go ahead, hop off the elliptical and give this whole strength training a shot.

MYTH-2: WHEN YOU STOP WEIGHT TRAINING, MUSCLE TURN INTO FAT
Can ‘gold’ turn into ‘brass’? Muscle and fat are two totally different types of tissue. Muscle can never turn into fat. When you stop weight training, you lose muscle mass, which in turn slows your metabolism and results in weight gain. If you stop exercising and don’t reduce calorie intake, even it can cause weight gain.

MYTH-3: YOU WILL GET RID OF BELLY FAT BY DOING CRUNCHES
Half truth! Crunches and ab-exercises help strengthen the muscles around your midsection. If you want to "see" your abs, you have to drop overall body fat percentage.

Here’s the formula to get rid of belly fat:
Abdominal exercises + Cardio exercises + Fibrous food = Flat stomach
MYTH-4: AS LONG AS YOU EXERCISE, YOU CAN EAT ANYTHING YOU WANT

If you eat more calories than you burn on a consistent basis, your bodies will accumulate these extra calories as fat even when you exercise regularly. I say that the results you get are 70% from the food and 30% from the exercise.

MYTH-5: YOU CAN REDUCE FAT FROM SPECIFIC BODY PART

Fat burning and Muscle building are two different things.
(1) You can’t burn fat on specific body parts with "spot training".
(2) You can build specific muscle with "spot training" but you can’t burn the fat that is stored on top of it.

If you want to burn fat on specific body parts, you have to drop overall body fat percentage by following proper nutrition and regular exercise routine.

MYTH-6: SPORTS BRA ARE 'JUST' TO PREVENT PAINFUL BOUNCE
It’s not okay to wear a regular bra when exercising. Sports bras help prevent painful bounce and permanent breast sag. High-impact activities like jogging or aerobics, can stress your cooper's ligaments (connective tissue) that keeps breasts firm. Repeated exercise without support may permanently stretch these tissue and cause sagging.

Get a well-fitted sports bra. It is a necessary to wear a sports bra when exercising.

MYTH-7: CARDIO IS THE ONLY WAY TO LOSE FAT

Everyone knows that cardio is the best thing for you when looking to burn extra calories. What most people don’t know is cardio can burn your muscles when it isn’t paired with weight training.

Here’s the formula for effective fat loss:
Strength training + Cardio exercises + Proper nutrition = Effective fat loss

Fitness myths are many and they are persistent like mosquitoes on a late-summer night.
